About us
Safe Corner ry is a multicultural non-governmental organization, dedicated to improving and strengthening the position, social inclusion, and equal opportunities of young girls and women in both Finland and Nigeria. The organization was founded for the sole purpose of empowering girls and women in Vaasa, Finland.
Safe Corner organizes group activities to foster the social well-being and inclusion of young girls and women from immigrant backgrounds in Vaasa. The association also assists immigrants with training, integration, counseling, multiculturalism, employment opportunities, language support, mental health services, and mentoring. In addition, it provides a support centre for young immigrant girls and women facing isolation, abuse, sexual violence, and trauma.
Through the development cooperation in Nigeria, the organization supports Nigerian women and children of low income and vulnerable groups with small-scale business activities, providing accommodation, skills acquisition, offsetting medical bills, improving sexual and hygiene health, reducing child and maternal mortality rates, providing scholarships, increasing food security, and encouraging women's political participation. Our focus is on community empowerment, child protection, education, health awareness programs, and equality and inclusion for young girls, women, and children.
Safe Corner collaborates extensively with different women's and immigrant organizations, social and health professionals, and educational institutions.
